In order to prepare well for this year’s Lagos State Inter-Agency Football Competition, tagged’HOS Cup’ Health Service Commission football team would begin screening of its players on Friday at the Campos sports center, Lagos Island.
The tournament, which is being sponsored by the Lagos State Head of Service, brings workers together in various state ministries and parastatals.
The screening of the players is necessary and compulsory to allow the technical director, Benson Edema and coaching crew to select good players that would take the Health Service Commission football team to the final.
Speaking with our correspondent, Edema said they have invited 48 male and 30 female players for the screening and only the best would make the final list.
“Our screening exercise is coming up on Friday and the coaching crew are preparing for the screening exercise. My job is to see the players in action and allow the coaches to select the good ones.
“I will also be part of the screening and assist the coaches in area of technicalities and other aspect of the game so that we can bring the best out of these players. I wish all the players best of luck. My advice for them is go give their best throughout the screening process,” he said.
Meanwhile, a member of Local Organising Committee, Ola Okunnu, has disclosed that ministries and parastatals are expected to submit their player and official names for registrations and submission before 18 August 2023 which is the deadline date.
The HOS Cup is expected to kick off next month and more than 20 ministries and parastatals are expected to take part in the annual competition.
