Gumel Applauds Qualification Of Four Nigeria’s Relay Teams For Paris Olympics

President of Nigeria Olympic Committee ( NOC) , Engr. Habu Gumel, has on behalf of the Olympic body, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) in the Bahamas, which secured qualification for four relay teams to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Paris Games.

The Games are scheduled to run from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

In his congratulatory message, he described the remarkable achievement as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment of the federation, coaches, and the athletes themselves.

“The qualification of these four relay teams ; the 4/X100 (Men & Women), 4X400 (Men), 4X400 (Mixed), and Men’s 4X400, are significant milestones that fill us with immense pride and joy.

“The relay events hold a special place in the Olympic tradition, and your athletes’ ability to unite as a cohesive unit and excel in these disciplines is a true testament to the strength and depth of Nigerian athletics.

The NOC President noted that they’re confident these relay teams will continue to soar and make the nation proud globally even as he posited that as they prepare for the Paris Games, the NOC stands ready to support the federation in every way possible.

“We wish the athletes and the entire team the very best as they embark on this exciting journey, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements in the months to come.

“Congratulations once again, and may this qualification mark the beginning of an unforgettable and successful campaign for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria in the Paris Games”, concludes the statement.
