The Executive Council and entire membership of the Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Lagos SWAN) are devastated by the shocking news of the passing of our esteemed former Chairman, Niyi Oyeleke, who departed this life on Tuesday

His death represents a profound and irreparable loss, not only to Lagos SWAN but to the entire sporting ecosystem in Lagos State and across Nigeria. The vacuum created by his departure will be deeply felt within the sports media community he so passionately nurtured.

During his tenure as Chairman, Niyi Oyeleke exemplified visionary leadership, steadfast dedication, and an uncompromising commitment to advancing professionalism and excellence in sports journalism. His contributions to the strengthening and repositioning of the association remain indelible. He was more than a leader, he was a mentor, a bridge-builder, and a unifying force whose impact will continue to inspire generations of sports writers.

On behalf of the association, the Chairman of Lagos SWAN, Amb.
