Gombe Principal’s Cup: How Sheu Abubakar Community Sec School Emerged Champions

On Friday evening Sheu Abubakar Community Secondary School, Gombe defeated Savannah Group of School 1-0 in the final Gombe State Principal’s Cup.

In the third-place match decided earlier, IDP Team 2 Academy lost 4-5 in a penalty shootout to Government Science Technical College after a barren draw at regulation time.

The two matches were held Thursday evening at the Pantami Township Stadium Gombe State.

Adamu Maigari’s goal in the second half was Sheu Abubakar Community Secondary School needed to beat its opponents in the encounter watched by thousands of spectators.

Reacting to the defeat, the Coach of Savannah Group of School, Godwin Innocent expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance saying that the best team emerged as champions.

“We wanted to win but unfortunately we lost to a better team.I am not disappointed so much because my boys did well in all their matches,” he said.

In his comment, Community School Coach, Usman Buba Nafada described the victory well deserved and commended the team for the job well done.
