The organisers of the much awaited Gombe Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championships have fixed a new date which would now hold on November 11th – 16th, 2024 as the prestigious Pantami Stadium,Gombe State.
The event will host over 85 Secondary Schools from 11 Local Government Areas in Gombe State, a development which is viewed as unprecedented in the annals of Sports in the State.
Initially, the annual event which scheduled for October, 18th to 24th 2024 was postponed following the scheduled government activities involving the State Education Ministry.
Over 65 Secondary Schools Game Masters have since been trained for the meet with an estimated number of about 3,065 young athletes to be engaged for the premier Championships.
Presently works have been completed at the event Games Village where athIetes will Camp as athIetes training is on-going in various Schools.
Speaking ahead of the Inter Secondary School Athletic Championships, the Chairman Main Organising Committee (MoC) Hon. Ahmad Shuaibu Gara-Gombe directed participating Schools principals, athletes and all Stakeholders to prepare their student-athletes for the biggest talents hunt Championships.
The sponsor of the event, stated during a flash chat that all logistics in preparation for the commencement of the maiden Inter Secondary Schools Championship are fully on ground.
Gombe State Athletics Association boss added that some adjustments carried out in earlier announced date turned out to be an advantage as sponsors now have enough time to finalize deals that would ultimately add values to the AthIetics event to be viewed globally via internet streaming.
Gombe who doubles as Chairman/CEO of Green White Green (GWG) Sports Center Ltd also expressed gratitude for the seamless resolution of the events date with relevant Stakeholders from Ministry of Sports and Education which was transmitted through their directors namely Mrs. Zainab Isyaku Adamu, Isah Ali Doho respectively.
“We remain Committed in ensuring that Gombe Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championships will be a memorable event for other states to be emulated.
“Consequently, the new event date has ignited some freshness in the participating school’s drive for intensive tracks&field training and participation,”he concluded.
