Limited has earned a strong reputation after the company successfully repaid its outstanding debts to the country’s premier regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to regain its licensing rights that enable it to provide uninterrupted services to its numerous subscribers .
The management of the NCC disclosed this in a press release in Abuja, which said the outstanding debts to the regulator include unpaid spectrum charges, numbering charges and Annual Operating Expenses (AOL). However, exact figures were not given.
This development was evident during the tenure of former Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Umar Dambatta, before being replaced by Aminu Maida last week by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The press release further stated that the Commission had withdrawn from its intended enforcement action against Globacom because the company had breached applicable rules by failing to pay its debts despite several formal warnings.
Prior to the recent event, NCC lifted the suspension of its regulatory services to Globacom in a letter dated May 22 titled “; “Subject: Continued violations of Commission laws and regulations.”
The suspension of the regulatory services provided to Globacom was automatically reinstated after Globacom failed to meet the conditions for early termination.
