Executive board members of Badagry Divisional Football Association, BDFA unanimously agreed to honour vice chairman of Lagos State Football Association Liameed Olawale Gafar as Grand Patron of the association.
While President of Chekas United Football Club,Chekwube Izoegbo was also honoured as Patron of the body.
Both of them were honoured at the grandfinale of Oba Akran Cup which held on Sunday at the French Village sports center, Badagry, Lagos.
The Award of Excellence as Grand Patron and Patron was done by a member of BDFA, Micheal Adebayo.
Chairman of BDFA, Dr Martins Osondu said they honoured the duo because of their contributions to the footbll development in Badagry and its environs.
He described Hajj Gafar as a football developer who contributed immensely to the success of Oba Akran Cup and football development in Badagry.
He also commended him for his support to other sporting programmes being organised by the association in the last few years and called other sports stakeholders to continue to pray for him to succeed in his future endeavours.
Osondu also appreciated president of Chekas United, Izoegbo for his support given the association and described the club owner, a lover of the round leather game.
“I also appreciate my brother, friend and president of Chekas United for immense contributions to the football development in Badagry. He is a good friend of association and always support our programmes morally and financially.
“These are the two football administrators the body can run to if we have some challenges or run out of ideas. Once again on behalf of my other board members in the association, i congratulate the duo for this honour and thanks for being our Grand Patron and Patron of our association,” he concluded.
