Head coach of Sporting Lagos Football Club, Paul Offor has confessed that Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club gave them a good fight before they beat them in a friendly match played at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos.
NNL Group B leaders, Sporting Lagos fought tooth and nail before they beat Prince Kazeem Eletu 3-1 in a friendly match played on Thursday morning.
Offor in a chat with our correspondent commended the effort of their opponents saying that Eletu boys were organised and played good football which brought the best out of his boys.
“I must confess that our opponents gave us a good fight which brought the best out of his team. It was a tough friendly match because i did not expect much from our opponents. We were able to break their defence in the second half because my boys played to instructions,” he said.
Reacting to the defeat, head coach of Prince Kazeem Eletu,Bilal Sousdi expressed happiness with the performance of the team and noted that the team’s fitness level were average which paved way for his opponents to score two goals in the second half.
“I am impressed with the team.The boys gave their best.They played well in the first half unfortunately we conceded two goals in the second half.What i observed was that our boys still lack fitness.Don’t forget that we just resumed after almost seven months on break and we did our recruitment recently so we should not expect full fitness from the boys.
“I am not bother about the result but the performance of our boys gladdens my heart which i need to commend them for the job well done,”he said.
In his own comment, assistant coach of Eletu FC Isreal Adegolu also commended his boys for their resilience and doggedness exhibited against their opponents saying that he had identified some areas he would work on the team before their next game.
Meanwhile,Raymond Oboh opened the goal scoring in the 37th minutes but it was quickly cancelled by Daniel Bathlomew goal in the 41th minutes as the first half ended one goal apiece.
The second half was totally different ball game as both teams intensified their game.Sporting Lagos took the game beyond their opponents as they asserted their authority in the midfield.
Two goals from Aliyu Salaudeen and Taro Godswill were Sporting Lagos needed to confirm the superiority over their opponents.
