Head Coach of R2 Finesse Football Club, Raji Adejumo expressed satisfaction after his team came from behind to draw their opponents in a friendly match held on Tuesday at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island.
R2 Finesse played 2-2 with Prince Kazeem Eletu FC in a friendly match witnessed a good display of football artistry and entertaining from both side throughout the encounter.
Adejumo said both teams gave a good account of themselves noted that his boys were better in their performance.
He congratulated his boys for their doggedness and determination showed to stage a come back and forced their opponents to draw.
“It was a good outing for us, and I am happy that we did not lose to Eletu boys this time around. The last time we met, they defeated us with a wide margin but today we were better and got a draw which is a good result for us, “he said.
Adejumo described Eletu FC a well coordinated team and also commended their effort throughout the encounter.
In his own reaction, Eletu coach, Israel Adegolu admitted that his team are undergoing rebuilding process saying that his team would be in better shape in subsequent friendly matches.
“We just resumed for the new season, and this is our first competitive friendly match in year 2024. Our boys are just coming up and we want to test some new players recruited recently and don’t forget that the likes of Abayomi Eletu, Sulaiman Lawal just left us recently to sign a professional contract in France so the team are going through a kind of restructuring for now but in our subsequent matches, we would get better,” he said.
Despite playing draw with their opponents, Adegolu said he was pleased with the team’s performance but charged them to raise their game in future assignments.
While Eletu team manager, Eletu Muftau said the team’s performance was below average but remained optimistic that his team would rise again in their next match.
Meanwhile Usman Muhammed opened the goal scoring in the early match for R2 Finesse but Habbed quickly retored parity to make the encounter an interesting one for the homers.
Wasiu Paraiso got the second goal in the 35th minutes to end the first half in favour of Eletu boys.R2 Finesse efforts in the second half was paid off when Moshood Adisa got the equaliser as both teams ended the game in stalemate.
