A Lagos based semi-professional side, Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club on Independence Day gave their fans something to cheer as the team thrashed Clique Sports Football Club of Gbagada 4-1 in a friendly match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
Jude Obasi quickly scored a spectacular goal for Prince Kazeem Eletu to send strong warnings to their opponents
The early goal scored by Obasi made both teams to raise their game. The visiting team, Clique Sports enjoyed possession at a point but lacked poor finishing to get the equaliser.
Eletu boys who played two matches won one, drew one in the new season lived up to expectations as the players played to coach instructions throughout the encounter.
A goal from Usman Agboola popularly known as Osimeh in the end of first half was Eletu boys needed to extend their lead in the game watched by a hundred fans.
Eletu boys continued their impressive form in the second half, dominated the game, controlled the midfield and created some scoring chances.
Obasi, who was adjudged man of the match scored his second goal in the early second half to make it the third goal for his team.
Clique Sports who gave their best in the pulsating tie got the consolatory goal through Faize Adeyemi in the 67th minutes.
The homers in perfect control of the game in the second half got their fourth goal through Akeem Olofin to confirm their supremacy over the opponents.
Reacting to the defeat, Clique Sports Coach, Adams Ojediran admitted that their opponents were better and commended his boys for their good display.
“It was a good match for us. Our opponents really exposed our deficiencies and I need to work on the team’s grey areas before our next game. Prince Kazeem Eletu boys are very good and they deserved the victory,” he said.
In his own comment, Eletu Coach, Israel Adegolu commended his boys for the job well done noted that they showed high level of commitment and professionalism throughout the game.
Commenting on the team’s preparation for the new season, Eletu team manager, Eletu Muftau said the team had resumed two weeks ago for the new season and delighted with the response of the players in their three friendly matches.
“We just finished our screening not quite long ago in far away Saki, Oyo State and we have tested our new players the coaches recruited and I must confess that they did well in their friendly matches we engaged in this new season.
“We are looking forward how we can play a well standard private league this season and we would continue to play top friendly matches that would bring the best out of our players,” he said.
