Head Coach of Sammy Football Club of Ijegun, Haruna Samuel has confessed that his boys were not fit enough to beat well organised and untired Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club of Lagos.
Samuel said this after his team suffered 3-1 against Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in a friendly match played on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
Sammy Coach who also commended his boys performance in the first half of the encounter said the friendly match exposed the weaknesses of the team and promised to work on the grey areas he identified before the kick off of the Alimosho Football Coaches Council Championship.
“It was a good match for us and eye opener as a Coach.We came to this match with a lot of expectations.I have been following Eletu boys through your publications and I prepared well for this encounter unfortunately we lost but not disgraced.
“Let me confess to you,my boys are fit but not fit enough to beat Eletu boys and I need to work on the team”s fitness level before Alimosho Football Coaches Council Championship kick off.
“In firness,we played well in the first half which quickly gave us a lead but in the second half, we were not there at all and Eletu capitalized on my boys tiredness and scored two goals.I have learned a lot from this match and it would help us to do well in Alimosho Football Championship,”he said.
Lawrence Gift quickly scored for Sammy in the 6th minutes to put early pressure on the Eletu boys.The early goal spurred the Prince Kazeem Eletu to intensify their efforts in searching for goal.
David Igwe got the equaliser for the home team before the first half ended.The second half saw Eletu took control of the game as they began to pile pressure on their opponents.
Usman Agboola, Taofeek Akeem missed some scoring chances in the early second half of the encounter.Obasi Jude who had been tormenting the opponents from the first half finally scored the second goal for Eletu team in the 72th minutes.
The visiting team who were struggling for fitness failed to create scoring chances as homers continued to play them half field.The effort of Eletu boys who were on rampage in the second half yielded a good result as Agboola popularly known as Osimeh scored through header in the 81th minutes for Prince Kazeem Eletu to confirm their supremacy over the opponents.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Coach, Israel Adegolu said it was a good start after two months of break.He said the boys played well but noted that the team still need to do better before their next friendly game.
