BY JOSEPH ODOEKWU, KSM

The family of Ezinne Juliana Chinyere Anyanwu, mother of the former Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) President, High Chief Enyioha Chris Anyanwu, has officially announced the schedule for her final burial rites, tagged “Rite of Passage to Eternal Glory.”

According to the statement released by the family and made available to our correspondent, the late matriarch will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her husband’s compound in Umuezie, Nguru, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Activities preceding the burial will commence on Monday, January 5, 2026, with a Service of Songs at Onuoha Dulu’s compound, Amaohuru, Nguru. This will be followed by a Night of Tributes the next day, Tuesday, January 6, at the Anyanwu family compound in Umuezie, Nguru.

On the day of interment, the remains of Ezinne Anyanwu will depart the Holy Rosary Funeral Home for her husband’s compound, with a brief stopover at her father’s compound in Amaohuru, Nguru. The symbolic visit, according to tradition, is a mark of respect for her ancestral home and a formal gesture of returning a daughter to her roots before her final journey.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Ofeama-na Umuezie Nguru, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at the family compound.
The ceremonies will conclude with an Outing and Thanksgiving Mass at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in appreciation to God for a successful burial.

Speaking on the chosen date, High Chief Enyioha Chris Anyanwu explained that the decision was made after due consultation and consideration of the schedules of family members and the Catholic community.

“We had to consider the availability of her children, relatives, and the Catholic community in Mbaise before agreeing on the date. The final schedule reflects the collective convenience and interest of all parties involved,” he said.
