The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission LSSC, Lekan Fatodu lauded the tremendous achievements of the state’s discovered and groomed athletes’ stellar performance at the 2024 All African Games held in Ghana.
He said the Lagos Stars remarkable feats at the 13th African showpiece in Accra, Ghana, demonstrated the level of their tenacity, determination and the can do spirit that defines every Nigerian.
He said, “some of your aspirations may not have been met but you continue to live and strive with the hopes that things will get better. You have actually taken that spirit to another level with the kind of sports and commitment you have putting into that efforts”.
While hosting the athletes at the Conference Room of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos, Fatodu further commended their stellar performance, defying all odds for staying stronger, flying the flag of Lagos and Nigeria as whole, adding that they have proved themselves as wonderful ambassadors of Lagos and their contributions are indispensable.
Among the athletes present are the current African and Commonwealth champion in weightlifting 55kg, Adijat Adenike Olarinoye; Omole Dolapo, boxer who have already bagged a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in France, amongst others who have carved a niche for themselves across different disciplines at the African Games.
