Chairman Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, Alhaji Liammed Olawale Gafar has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the invited guests who graced the just concluded Nigeria Ex Internationals Cup held on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena popularly known as Onikan Stadium.
FC Nwosu emerged as Champions after defeating FC Ekpo 6-5 on penalties following the barren draw at the regulation time.
Gafar while addressing the journalists thanked the President of Bet9ja and Value Jet, Hon Kunle Soname for his finacial support, 1st and 2nd vice presidents of Nigeria Football Federation NFF, Felix Anyansi-Agwu and and Gbenga Elegbeleye respectively and host of others who came to add glamour to the inaugural edition of the competition.
Gafar said the competition was organised for the ex Internationals who had served this country wholeheartedly during their active days
He further explained that the tourney was organised for the ex Internationals to impact to the young footballers and share their experience with them.
The football administrator disclosed that he was delighted to see executive members of NFF and more than 20 state chairmen football associations and other football stakeholders within and outside the state to grace the grandfinale.
He however thanked them for their moral and financial supports given the organisers to make the inaugural edition a huge success and prayed for their journey mercies back to their respective states.
“It was a huge success and i must thank the organising commiittee for their commitment to the success of the competition.I also thank Hon Kunle Soname, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye and other state chairmen football associations for honouring our invitations.
“Let me also extend my appreciation to fans, chairmen five football divisions in the state and coaches for being part of this grandfinale.Your attendance was also contributed to the success of this competition.
” i would also like to congratulate the champions and other three teams that also won the prize money for the job well done throughout the tournament.We pray and hope that the next edition would be better and stronger than this,”he concluded.
