Eletu Queens Win Atlas Cup Final, Set To Hit Asaba To Defend Chiejinne Cup Title

A Lagos based championship league female club, Eletu Queens Football Club emerged as champions after defeating Arising Stars in the Atlas Cup final.

Eletu Queens defeated Arising Stars 1-0 in the final played on Sunday at the Nathaniel Idowu sports center, Ajegunle, Lagos.

A goal from Peace Effiong in the 3th minutes was Eletu Queens needed to defeat their opponents in an encounter watched by mammoth crowd.

After the encounter,Eletu Queens Coach, Damilare Jaiyeola expressed gratitude to God for the victory and commended his girls for their commitment, doggedness and fighting spirit exhibited throughout the tournament.

“It was not an easy match because our opponents gave us a good fight.I thank my girls for their commitment and i believe that this victory would motivate us to do well in our future engagements,”he said.

Effiong was also emerged as highest goal scorer after scoring five goals throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Eletu Queens have quickly resumed training in preparations for the second edition of Ifeanyi Chiejinne Cup sheduled to kick off at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State from December 11 through 17.

Eletu Queens are currently champions of the tournament and they would soon hit Asaba to defend the title won last year.
