Edem Promises Hitch-Free Competition As 5th Louis Edem Foundation Int’l Basketball Tournament Rip-off 18 January In Lagos

The 5th edition of the Louis Edem Foundation International Basketball Tournament Tips Off on January 18th, 2026, at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Founder of the Foundation and former Nigerian international forward Louis Edem said that this year’s edition, like previous ones, will be hitch-free.

He described the annual tournament which attract teams from Nigeria, Benin Republic and Ghana as his own way of giving back to the sport that contributed to the moulding of his personality.

He gave kudos to other former Nigeria Basketball players who does similar programme for remembering.

Edem who is often referred to as ‘Calabar Prince’ promised to continue with the programme every year.

“I am delighted that we are coming home again for the 5th edition of the Louis Edem Foundation International Basketball Tournament which will Tip-Off on January 18th at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.

‘Like previous editions, I want to assure the teams, coaches, players and fans that year edition which will run from January 18th through 24th will be hitch free.

‘I also appreciate other former players who have been using their personal resources to organize programmes for Nigeria teeming basketball players to continue with the good work.

‘On our part as a foundation, we will continue to use basketball as an avenue to continue to give back to the youth.

This year’s edition will feature 20 teams, ten each in the men’s and women’s categories
