Eight Archdeaconry church football teams have qualified for the quarter final of the ongoing Diocese of Lagos Mainland football competition.
The competition which is organised by Diocese of Lagos Mainland in conjunction with Stationery Stores Football Club kicked off some weeks ago at the Igbobi College,Lagos.
All the quarter final matches would hold on Saturday at the CMS Grammar School, Bariga.
According to the quarter final pairing released by the organisers, Mushin Archdeaconry battle Surulere Archdeaconry by 8am,Orile/Coker Archdeaconry tackle Yaba Archdeaconry by 10am,Okota Archdeaconry confront Ijesha Archdeaconry by 11:40am as Idi-Oro Archdeaconry tackle Ikate Archdeaconry in the last match of the day.
Chairman Organising Committee, Olusanjo Adeoti congratulated the eight teams for reaching the quarter final stage and admonished them to play the game according to the rules..
“So far, the competition has been well coordinated. We are sincerely grateful to our dear father in God,The Rt Rev B.C Akinpelu Johnson (The Lord Bishop, Diocese of Lagos Mainland) for creating this platform for our youth to explore and embrace sports as one of the solutions to the social vices militating against the future of our youths.
“We have discovered talents in this year’s edition and we are not leaving them to their fate alone, the major reason we are partnering with the Stationery Stores FC who have been so supportive in this tournament.
“We are at the quarter final stage starting this Saturday and the LOC have put things in place for a successful outing.
“I am using this medium to encourage all the qualified teams to put their best and make their Archdeaconry proud,” he concluded.
