The Badagry Divisional Football Association BDFA under the leadership of Dr Osondu Martins Ibegbu has proposed a tournament for all the local government under its division tagged ‘The Chairman’s Cup’
in his statement,Osondu said time has come to get the government office holders to involve in youth and football development in Badagry as well as its environs by empowering them through sport
“Football is one of the only unifying tools that brings people, tribe, religion and even nations together so I can’t just fold my hands and allow these young lads talents waste away without them utilising it to the highest level
“We now have newly elected Local government chairmen/chairperson under Badagry divisions which has LGA and LCDA in its political geographical zone so it is the responsibility for us to make this happen and give our youth and football lovers this great opportunity they have been clamouring for all this while,”said Osondu in his statement.
The Local Government Chairman cup will be hosted by each local government and in the name of the seating Executive Chairmen which all ten council bosses will take it upon their shoulder for continuity.
“It will be a yearly football competition and we have winning prizes for teams that emerge as winners.We have to use football to bring the youth closer to the government and also bring the government to its youth through football.
“This is a dream that the BDFA board members and I will ensure it comes to pass and will last for generations to come,”said Osondu who was quoted in the statement.
