Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, paid a working visit to the seat of sports in Lagos State at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere where he met with the Director General of the state’s Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu to brainstorm on how the government can leverage on the inherent benefits that could be derived in sports for youth and social development.
The sports commission says in its Official Facebook page on Tuesday that the Commissioner “graced our office with his worthy presence, emphasising the profound link between sports and youth development.
“During his visit, we engaged in discussions spanning various aspects of sports for development. We explored innovative strategies to harness the immense potential of the teeming youth in Lagos, towards having an ecosystem that nurtures their growth, both on and off the field.”
Sports has long been recognised as a powerful element for positive change, transcending boundaries and uniting communities.
The sports commission continues, saying “It is our firm belief that by providing our youth with opportunities to excel in sports, we not only promote physical fitness and discipline but also instil invaluable life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and resilience.
“We appreciate the Commissioner for his support and for sharing his invaluable insights during this visit. The Lagos State Sports Commission and the Ministry of Youth and Social Development are committed to collaborating to create a future where sports play a vital role in developing our youth into globally sought-after champions.”
