No fewer than 32 teams are expected to feature in the inaugural edition of Odofin Erujeje football tournament which kicks off on 3, September 2023 at the Police Barrack playground, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
The competition is sponsored by Chief Ogunsanya Adewunmi SAN, the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom.
Tournament coordinator, Ogunbunmi Abolore confirmed that the 32 teams were divided into eight groups saying that two teams would qualify from the group stage to the round of 16.
He disclosed that one match would be played on Sunday as Owolowo Connect football team would battle Kadesh FC.
“We are set for the opening match and Ikorodu city is agog for the tournament.It is going to be an exciting opening match because the two teams are good sides in this tournament,” he said.
The cup donor, Adewunmi charged the participating teams to abide by the rules and regulations and noted that the essence of the tournament is to bring the teams in Ikorodu together and also engage the youths constructively instead of being idle.
He, however, urged the organisers to put necessary things in place to make the opening match a memorable one and wished all the teams best of luck in their outings.
