As the Oba Akran Cup football competition is drawing nearer in Badagry, president of Chekas United, Chekwube Eulick Uzoegbo has confessed that his team are working hard to go far in the competition.
Uzoegbo disclosed after his team crashed out in the third round of the ongoing Lagos State Challenge Cup.
The club boss explained that his team had started early preparation for Oba Akran Cup immediately the team crashed out of FA Cup saying that his target is to reach the go far in the tournament.
“Oba Akran Cup is a big competition after FA Cup and we are working hard to achieve good result in the competition. We have started playing some friendly matches and the results are encouraging. I will try as much as possible to motivate them to achieve their target,”he said.
Asked if his team could win the Oba Akran Cup, Uzoegbo said his team are among the favourite clubs to win the cup but noted that all the teams coming to the competition also have equal chance to reach the final stage.
Meanwhile chairman Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Council in Lagos, Fatai Adekunle Ayoola has thrown his weight behind Oba Akran Cup scheduled to kick off next month across ten centres in Badagry and its environs.
Chairman Organising Committee of Oba Akran Cup, Dr Osondu Martins Ibegbu urged the club owners to quickly complete their registration forms saying that any club owners’ fails to meet the deadline would not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
The draws ceremony would hold next Thursday at the chamber hall of Ajeromi Ifelodun council.64 teams are expected to take part in the competition.
