The people of Ghana particularly in the city of Accra, Ghana and other parts of the country on Saturday were in celebration mood after President of the country, Nana Asso Dankwa Akufo -Addo declared 13th African Games Accra 2023 closed.
The All African Games, which commenced two weeks ago, came to an end as athletes of 53 countries converged at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in their native attires for the match pass.
Addressing the participating countries, President Akufo-Addo highlighted that African Games represents a festival of unity, sportsmanship and distinction spanning the African continent.
He stressed that the occasion stands as a symbol of hope, echoing the collective heritage and unified goals of Africcans.
He also implored all participants to embody the highest standards of integrity and sportsmanship and wished them safe journey back to their respective countries.
Our correspondent who witnessed the closing ceremony saw the Ghanians were happy and excited and thanked God for the success.of the game.
Some of the Ghanaian journalists thanked God for the success of the Games and commended the government of Ghana and the organisers for the job well done.
Egypt emerged the overall winners with 101 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze. Nigeria took second with 47 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze, while South Africa maintained third position with 32 gold, 32 silver and 42 bronze.
