It was a celebration galore for the players and management staff of Phoenix Queens and CATS after their darling teams won inaugural edition of Addbrand Cup.
The one day football competition held this afternoon at the Eagles Club football pitch, Surulere, Lagos.
Eight female teams took part in the tournament sponsored by Addbrand Company based in Sweden.
Among the eight teams are Future Stars Queens,Msports Ladies,Gasfat Queens, CATS Queens,Aseyori Queens, Phoenix Queens, Wazbak Queens and Heroes Queens.
In the final played today,Phoenix defeated Future Stars Queens 2-1 on penalties after barren draw at the regulation time.
In U-11 boys category,CATS also defeated Diamond Sports 1-0 in the final watched by mammoth crowd.
Meanwhile nine teams participated in the boys category as CATS emerged the champions.
The teams are Golden Bell, Msports, Sama FC, Golden Grassroots, Phoenix FC, Sharp Talent, Diamond Sports and Brave Heart FC.
Tournament cordinator, Chinasa Mandy Ukandu explained that the purpose of the competition is to bring young players together and keep them busy.
She however revealed that the seven aside competition has really exposed the players to endurance game and improved their fitness level.
“It was fitness game for the teams and we could see that many players lasted longer on the pitch.I congratulate the champions for their victories and i believe that the next edition would be better organised,”she said.
Phoenix Queens went home with the sum of N50,000 and a giant trophy, the first runners up and second runners up pocketed N25,000 and N15,000 respectively.
