It was a day of excitement at the Campos Memorial Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, Thursday, as the three-week “Barbara Atinuke Harper Basketball Dream Team Initiative” came to a successful conclusion.
Barbara Atinuke Harper, the Chairperson of the Lagos State Basketball Association, spearheaded the initiative to provide a dynamic platform for promoting and relaunching basketball skills among primary and junior secondary school students.
The programme was not only thrilling but also served as a sustainable avenue for children aged 8 to 15 to learn the values and techniques of basketball, fostering camaraderie, empowerment, and personal development.
Speaking at the event, Barbara remarked that the initiative was her personal contribution to the growth of basketball in Lagos State. She emphasized the importance of “catching them young” through the school system as a bedrock for sports development in the state.
She stressed that the programme is her way of contributing to the growth of basketball at the grassroots level, introducing children to the sport at an early age and laying the groundwork for a brighter future in the sport.
