The much anticipated second edition of the Cardinal James Odunmbaku Football Championship will kick off on Wednesday across nine centres in Lagos.
The opening match would be played between defending champions, Bucknor and Future Stars by 2pm, while Wolves tackle Balo FC by 4pm. All the two matches would be played at the Proposed Palace playground, Igando, Alimosho, Lagos.
The competition is named after APC Lagos chieftain, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku and is sponsored by Mr Iyk Madu Obi.
A total of 64 teams are expected to participate in the competition across various centres in the state.
The centres are following Igando, Ejigbo,Egan, Ijaiye-OjokoroIkorodu, Ijaiye -Ojokoro, Lagos Island, Mushin Ijaiye-Ojokoro Aboru and Sango-Otta centres.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamonsi said the competition is sponsored by Mr Iyk Madu Obi to honour Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku popularly known as Baba Eto for his contribution to youth and football development in the state.
In his own comment, the sponsor, Iyk Madu Obi said he would do his best to make this year’s edition better organized and charged the committee to remain focus throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, action resumes on Friday at Igando centre as Kay Property FC face Adebayo Samba FC, while King Best tackle Gunners by 4pm.
