Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State chpater, has congratulated Rivers United FC on their victory over APC Do Lobito of Angola in the penultimate group game of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup.
Chairman of the Rivers State chapter, Peter Abaje, described the victory as heartwarming, which demonstrated the team’s resilience even in the face of ominous challenges.
He encouraged the management, technical crew, and players of the “Pride of Rivers people” as the team is fondly called not to relax until the ultimate goal of picking the Quarterfinal ticket is achieved.
“The result today against Lobito of Angola is a clear pointer that we have a supple team whose dogged fighting Spirit is highly commendable.
“While we applaud the effort of going away to pick up three vital points, we hope that the players, management, etc. will not lower their guard in their quest to pick the quarter-final ticket against Dream FC in Uyo in the last game of the group.
Rivers United will next play Dream FC of Ghana in a make or mar game at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
