In response to Nigeria’s disappointing performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos chapter has taken proactive steps to support the Yucateco Boxing League in its bid to discover budding talent for the nation.
The second edition of the League took place at Jevinick Hall on Isaac John, Street, Ikeja, Lagos, marking the beginning of a journey to restore Nigeria’s boxing glory.
Chapter of Lagos SWAN, Olatutu Oladunni, who recently returned from a training trip from the United Kingdom where she obtained 2024 International Certification on International Diplomacy, International Relations and Protocol in London, expressed her delight at seeing individuals invest in youth development through boxing.
To support the organisers of the league, Olatutu generously donated the sum of ₦200,000 and soft drinks on behalf of the Lagos SWAN.
Joining in the enthusiasm was 1996 Olympic gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa, who attended the event and expressed hope that this initiative would aid the Nigeria Boxing Federation in discovering young talents.
The event, organized by Hon. Omole Imadu, drew a crowd of boxing enthusiasts, who celebrated the initiative aimed at reviving Nigeria’s boxing glory days.
Through this partnership, Lagos SWAN and Yucateco Boxing League aim to identify and nurture promising boxers, providing them with the necessary support and resources to excel in the sport.
