Director of Bet9ja Betting Company, Albeto Cuomo has expressed the company’s support in the forthcoming Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki Football Tournament which kicks off 23, August,2025 in two centres at Ibeju-Lekki axis.
Cuomo made this known during the press conference/ draw ceremony held on Wednesday in Lagos.
A total of 42 teams are expected to take part in the tournament sponsored by Bet9ja Betting Company.
In his welcome address, Cuomo expressed gratitude to the organising committee led by Victor Akinmoyo and other critical stakeholders for making the draw ceremony possible and thanked the participating teams for their commitment to the tournament.
He explained that the Bet9ja Betting Company would continue to support grassroots football in Lagos and Nigeria at large and highlighted the numbers of sporting events the company has sponsored in various places in the country
He acknowledged the pool of talents abound in the country but noted that the talented players lack a platform where they can showcase their talents.
“Nigeria does not lack talents but talented footballers lack opportunities to showcase their talents in the country.The Bet9ja is here to give the young talented players the platform to showcase their talents and we are sponsoring this tournament as part of our corporate social responsibility and to support grassroots football in the country,”he said.
In her own comment, senior marketing manager, Mrs Jennifer Olatunji expressed delight with the number of teams registered for the competition and reiterated company’s commitment to grassroots football in the country.
She revealed that Bet9ja is not only support football in the country but pointed other sporting events the company has supported in the last few years.
She however urged the participating teams to shun any social vices that can affect the image of the competition and revealed monetary rewards for the winners and outstanding players of the tournament.
According to her, the winners would go home with the sum of N500,000 with a giant trophy, while first and second runner up would pocket the sum of N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
She also mentioned the sum of N30,000 for the best goalkeeper, while best coach and best supporter club would go home with the sum of N50,000 each.
Olatunji added that the sum of N20,000 would go to most valuable player of the tournament while the two coaches in final would be sent to NIS for coaching course courtesy of Bet9ja Betting Company.
Speaking in the same vein,. tournament Coordinator, Victor Akinmoyo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsor and promised the title sponsor hitch free tournament.
He said the competition would bring opportunities for the young players to come to the limelight and urged the teams to play according to the rules and regulations governing the competition.
Chairman of Lagos State Football Association,.Hajj Liameed Olawale Gafar congratulated organising committee of Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki Cup for the success of the draws and promised state football ruling body it’s support throughout the competition.
Gafar who was represented by a technical member of LSFA, Musbau Oseni advised the participating teams not to take the competition a do or die affairs and they should shun soccer violence during and after the game.
