Hundred supporters of Success Football Club went into wild jubilation yesterday afternoon after their darling team defeated Noble 5 Star Football Club 3-1 in the final of Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki football tournament.
The pulsating final which was held at the Radial Sport Arena,Epe Expressway,Lagos was watched by representatives of title sponsor,Bet9ja Betting Company along with other invited guests.
Success FC who came to the match venue with large supporters lived up to expectations as Yakub Sheriff opened the goal account in 18th minutes to give their fans something to cheer.
Although Noble 5 Star quickly responded through Monday Adeoye before the half time.
The second half was tensed as both teams increased the tempo of the game.Success FC took the lead when Ajayi Shakiru scored the second goal to send their fans into wild jubilation.
The goal spurred the Success boys to control the game but Noble 5 Star were unlucky after missing more than four scoring chances that would have resulted to equaliser.
The effort of Success boys in the high tension soaked match was rewarded when Yakub Nurudeen scored the late winner to confirm their superiority over their opponents.
Reacting to the victory,Success Coach,Ogunjuwon Azeez expressed his delight saying that the victory was well deserved.
He commended his boys for their resilience and determination and thanked his supporters for their unwavering support given the team throghout the competition.
In his own comment,Noble 5 Star coach,team manager,Balogun Idowu admitted their defeat and attributed the loss as a result of wrong tactical changes made by coach in the second half.
In the third place match played earlier,Bright Star pip Star To Be Academy 1-0 to win the third place position.
During the individual award,Sodiq Okeowo from Success FC emerged as Most Valuable Player,Ronald Funminiyi from Noble 5 Star FC won Best Keeper of the tournament
Sadat Sanusi from Royal Asyteric FC won higest goal scorer with six goals as Success coach, Ogunjuwon was picked as best Coach of the tournament.
The champions received a sum of N500,000 with a giant trophy, while Noble 5 Star FC went home with the sum of N300,000 as Bright Star pocketed N200,000 for the third place position.
