A total of 32 teams are expected to fight for the N1 million naira for Prize money in the forthcoming Bet9ja Ibeju-Lekki Cup which begins on 16th August 2025 at the two designated centres in Ibeju-Lekki.
Addressing the members of Main Local Organising Committee and media on Tuesday in Lagos, tournament director, Victor Akinmoyo disclosed that the competition would witness 32 teams and it would be played on knockout format throughout the seven weeks action.He also went further to announce prize money for the winners.
According to him,the champions would receive the sum of N500,000 with a giant trophy, while the second and third position would pocket the sum of N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
Outstanding players would also be rewarded with cash prize and gift items during the final presentation.
Commenting on how the teams would be participated, Akinmoyo said the registration is free but interested clubs must be registered with the organisers.
He also said only the players within the ages of 18 to 25 are eligible to participate in the tournament being sponsored by Bet9ja Betting Company.
Akinmoyo who doubles as Leader of Ibeju-Lekki Football Coaches Council confirmed to the media and organising committee that ten teams have registered so far for the tournament.
Asked if the tournament is meant for only teams within Ibeju-Lekki and its environs, The Lagos based football administrator said any team outside Ibeju-Lekki can register for the tournament but noted that there is greater consideration for the teams within Ibeju-Lekki and its environs.
“We want more clubs from Ibeju-Lekki and its environs but we will also welcome teams outside our domain.Presenly teams that registered for now are within so any interested club from other part of Lagos can be accommodated provided they meet our terms and conditions,”he said.
