Chekas United Football Club would confront Young Stars Football Club in the final of Badadgry Divisional Football League, BDFA.
The much anticipated closing ceremony would hold on Saturday by 12noon as invited performing musicians would begin to entertain the fans before the match at the French Village Sports centre, Badadgry, Lagos.
In the BDFA Super Eight which concluded on Wednesday afternoon at the French Village, Chekas United won their group two matches and drew one to top the group A with seven points, while Young Stars won one a match,drew two matches to top the group B with five points.
Before the commencement of Super Eight, the organisers have announced that a winner in each group would play in the final, while first runner up in each group would clash in the third place match.
Reacting to the Chekas United victory, the chairman of the club,Chekwube Uzoegbo applauded the coaching crew and players for their commitment to achieve the historic feat.
He said nobody gave them a chance when the journey started from the group stage but thank goodness that his team shamed bookmakers.
“We were not favourite when the league kicked off some weeks ago but today we proved to the bookmakers that football is not playing on paper.Our qualification for the final stage was well deserved because both players and coaches were dedicated to this league.
“In each match, they play better and I always tell them that they can do better but today they made it to final.I thank them for reaching the final and I am looking forward to the exciting final with Young Stars,”he said.
