African Boxing Ambassador, Bashiru Lawrence Ali (OON), has charged Nigerians to go all out to vote for the candidate of their choice as the country goes to poll to elect a new president today.
The 2023 general election gets underway across the country today with the presidential and national assembly polls.
Three political parties and their candidates are the forerunners seeking the votes of their people. They are Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Atiku of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr. Peter Obi who is contesting on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
Bash Ali, World Boxing Federation (WBF) cruiserweight champion in a widely circulated message on the social media early on the election day called on the people to be cautious, adding that the PVC is the weapon they need to elect their candidates of their choice in today’s polls.
“House, today is February 25, 2023. I am today going to war with you but not with my boxing gloves. Today, you are my opponent, but I do not intend to give you a bloody nose. Today, we are going to fight with love and respect and there will be no low and rabbit punches. All my punches will be above the waist line and I will keep inside my mouth my teeth guard so I will not bite you by mistake.
“My weapon today is my PVC. I will vote for my candidate and you are free to vote for yours. If your candidate defeats mine, I will exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship by walking up to you to congratulate and shake your hand.
“We are brothers so we must never fight and kill each other over a SERVANT that we want to make a KING. We must never.
“My PVC is ready and you have my MAXIMUM RESPECT at all time.
“Who am I going to vote for? The most qualified candidate. I am ready for a new Nigeria. Yes, I am ready,” the champion said.
