African Boxing Ambassador, Nigerian Bashiru Lawrence Ali (OON) was a guest of National Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje at his office at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.
The meeting was a moment for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) cruiserweight champion, Bash Ali to inform Ganduje of the proposed Guineas World Record Boxing Championship which is scheduled to hold first time on African soil outside the United States.
Ganduje, who was so excited with the good news of the fight holding in Nigeria, was also told by Bash Ali of the benefits of such a world class boxing tournament being in Nigeria and the image laundering that the bout would give to the country.
Independent News Express reports that Bash Ali had a fruitful discussion the APC national chairman proudly displayed one of the historic fight souvenirs.
This event would be the most lucrative in the history of Pay Per View Television (PPVTV), as it is expected to be watched LIVE by an estimated audience of between 30million – 35million people at the rate of $100 per view which would yield at least $3Billion PPVTV Revenue.
This is aside other revenue that would be generated from PPVTV in Africa, sales of souvenirs, sponsorships and adverts. And above all, five sports academies with Olympic size swimming pool and a sports equipment manufacturing factory will be built across Nigeria at the cost of $20m each.
Bash Ali, who hails from Edo State, south-south Nigeria, a former wrestler turned boxer, is described as the “boxer in the world to win a world boxing title without first boxing as an amateur. He is the only boxer in the world to win every cruiserweight title conceivable – California, United States Boxing Association (USBA), North America Boxing Federation (NABF), World Boxing Council International (twice) and the current World Boxing Federation champion.
Bash Ali who was honoured with a chieftaincy title, Ajagungbade of Ibadanland, has the best boxing record of 75 wins and 57 KOs in the cruiserweight division. He is the only boxer in the world to have the massive support of a world boxing body, the World Boxing Federation to satisfy a California Superior Court judgement
