The ongoing Badagry Divisonal Football League is getting tougher as teams are still battling for round of 16 tickets in group C and D taking place at VDC Barracks, Volks bus stop, along Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
The league which is taking place across various centres in Badagry and its environs is being organised by Badagry Divisonal Football Association BDFA.
Our correspondent who monitor group C and D matches observed that none of the team sure of round of 16 ticket yet despite playing four matches in each group.
Four teams stand the chance to qualify for the round of 16 in group C before their last game on weekend.Presently Power of De Cross FC are leading with 8 points, while Leads United and Franky Best have 6 points respectively on the table.Young Pro are fourth position on the table have 4 points and still have mathematical chance to reach the round of 16 if they can win their last match with wide margin and wait for other results in the group.
Power of De Cross who are leading in the group still need outright win in their last match to top the group while a draw to them would make them to wait for other results to favour them before they can confirm their qualification.
In Group D, it is a battle to the finish as four teams are fighting for two slots for the round of 16. Presently Young Stars and SC Heritage have 9 points each on the table while Chekas United and Royal FC have 7 and 6 points respectively.
Interestingly, Young Stars and Heritage would clash in their last game on weekend and a draw for both sides would put their qualification in danger unless If Chekas lose or draw their last game.
Royal FC on the other hand have the slim chance to qualify if they can win their laat match with wide margin and pray for both teams in first and second on the table to play draw.
A victory for Chekas United might seal their qualification if Heritage and Young Stars lose their last game.
These two groups should be seriously monitored by the organisers to avoid match fixing and the match officials should not lose guard on their duties.Any error ot mistake on the part of the match officials can mar the league.
It is duty of the technical and disciplinary committees of BDFA to deploy more technocrats to monitor all the matches and ensure fair play to all teams.
