Head Coach of Straightway Football Club, Ikechukwu Ani still remains optimistic that his boys would eventually qualify for the next round of the ongoing Badagry Divisional Football League taking place across designated centres in Badagry Division, Lagos.
Ani disclosed this after his team played barren draw with Young Pro on Monday afternoon at the CVD Barracks football pitch, Volks, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
Ani who doubles as team manager told our correspondent that he was happy to take a point from their opponents and commeded his boys for their resilience and doggedness exhibited throughout the enconter.
“Of course it was a tough game for my boys and the opponents too.We gave them a good fight unfortunately the game ended in stalemate.Let me commend my boys once again for the job well done because they were resilient throughout the game and they were able to pick a point which is not a bad start for us,”he said.
Ani admitted that his boys did not create enough chances and missed some goals in both halves.He attributed the lack of goal scoring as a result of absence of key players in the team.
“There are some players who are not around now and it really affect our goal scoring.The goodnews is that they would join us in our next game.
“However, i must say that we still need to work hard and score more goals so that at the end of the day, we may be in better position on the table,”he said.
In his own remark, Young pro coach, Olamipo Adesanya also admitted that it was a kneenly contested game and appreciated his boys for their commitment and dedication on the field of play.
In other results, Potential FC played 1-1 with Franky Best, as Power of De Cross and Leads United game ended in barren draw.
Meanwhile action continues on Tuesday as Inter Javed FA face JP Young Stars by 11am, Henzilion battle Tico boys by 1pm, while Joint FC clash with Golden FA.
