AWBL: Nigeria Customs Land In Quarter Finals

The Nigeria Customs Service Women Basketball Team have landed in the quarter finals of the Africa Women Basketball League (AWBL) holding in Alexandria, Egypt after dismissing Democratic Republic of Congo CNSS in their Group A last preliminary game.

The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi ladies are getting this far in the history of the club.

Customs entered the last group game with a 1-2 record but proved their mettle after a second quarter scare by the Congolese side to win the game by 66-57 points (26-15, 06-18, 13-12, 21-12) to finish as the third best team in Group A.

Customs duo of captain Nkem Akaraiwe and Olaoluwatomi Taiwo combined for 44 points of the total points recorded by the Customs with Akaraiwe producing another double performance of 20 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks and 27 efficiency rating while Taiwo led the floor with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 17 efficiency rating.

Customs will face-off against five-time Africa champions InterClube of Angola in the quarter finals on Sunday.
