The crowd at the U-16 Princess Mabel Madojiemu Athletics Championship at Igueben Grammar School, Edo State witnessed a dominant performance from Eluogierior Destiny, who left no one in doubt about his talent.
He started with a gold medal in the boys’ long jump, leaping 5.63 meters to victory after showing his potential with a 6.30m jump in the prelims.
Destiny also delivered as the young talent took to the tracks and stormed to victory in the 100m in 11.78s leaving the crowd cheering in admiration.
In the girls’ events, Joy Elojienor leapt to victory in the long jump, while Odion Orobosa won gold in the 100m, 12.33 finishing ahead of Osayawe Blessing at 12.35
The boys’ 100m sprint was all about speed and determination as Destiny Eluogierior took gold, with Aiegbelen Kester securing silver, and Paul Christian earning bronze.
In the shot put girls’ category, Monday Success, with no prior experience, stunned everyone by winning a gold medal with 8.34m. Omoruyi Mary came second with 7.15m, while Richard Anita finished third.
Also in the shot put boys category, Omosade Okeiwe took the top spot running 11.44m, followed by Efosa Marvelous in second with 11.74m, and Christopher Joseph in third with 11.78m.
It was a dream come true by the sponsor, Princess Mabel Madojiemu who took the competition to her Community in Igueben, Edo State, therefore, allowing young athletes to participate in top athletics action.
Winners were decorated with trophies, medals and cash prizes as the three-day event ended in a grand style over the weekend.
