Outgoing National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sir (Dr) Honor Sirawoo has bestowed a national honour on some selected members of the association, among whom is the first women ever emerged as the chairman of the Lagos State chapter, Ms. Olatutu Oladunni.
The honour, which was tagged SWAN Distinguished Service Award, was given to the recipients at the ongoing National Triennial Congress in Omok, Rivers State.
Oladunni took over the reign of the administration of Lagos SWAN last year’s October when an election supervised by the national body was held. The publisher of Daily News Post, a media company, which has an international acclaimed magazine and a digital newspaper on his stable, was once the secretary of the caretaker executive committee set up by the National SWAN to midwife the crisis-ridden Lagos chapter.
Oladunni, who was excited with the award, thanked President Sirawoo for deeming it fit to give her such a honour, even as she added that the award would further encourage her to do more for the development of the association in Lagos and at the national level.
