A Lagos-based football philanthropist, Igbasan Opeyemi, has commended the Star Base Football Academy of Ogudu for the resounding victory recorded at the just concluded Igbasan U-16 football competition.
Star Base defeated Ablaze Football Academy of Ikorodu 8-7 after one goal apiece at the regulation time in the final which held recently at the IBB football pitch, Iyana-Oworo, Lagos.
While speaking to journalists at the final, Opeyemi expressed his delight with the performance of two finalists but congratulated the champions for the job well done.
“I am delighted to see the young lads displaying their talents that God gives them. I am excited with the performance of both finalists but let me congratulate Star Base Academy for this hard-fought victory because they fought all through and achieve their result,” he said.
Opeyemi who is vying for the position of chairman seat in Lagos State Football Association, LSFA said he still in the race, adding that he is not ready to step down for any candidate.
“I am still in the race for Chairman’s position. I have started consulting and i am not ready to step down for any candidate. My contribution in grassroots football is well known and somebody like me have what it takes to take Lagos FA to the next level,” he said.
