Winners and first runner up from six geo-political zones would begin to arrive in Lagos on 18 May 2025 for the final stage of the 17th Inter-State Emeka Anyaoku football tournament.
The tournament commenced some weeks ago in six geo-political zones of this country, and the winners and runners-up will participate in the final phase of the tournament, which begins end of May.
Match coordinator, Ganiu Ajibola, confirmed to our correspondent that teams that qualified for each zone would start coming to Lagos this weekend, while four teams from Lagos would join the already qualified teams in preparation for the final phase.
“The inter-zonal Emeka Anyaoku competition kicked off some weeks ago across geo-political zones of this country, and I am happy to announce that the qualified teams will be on their way to Lagos for the final round.
“From the report I received from other zones, it was quite impressive and our representatives have done a good job in area of organisation and coordination,” he said.
The tournament, which is being supported by His Excellency, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary General, l would kick off on 25 May at designated centres.
Ajibola said the tournament was organised to make the youths busy and promote grassroots soccer across the country, and urged the remaining teams to abide by the rules governing the game.
Among the teams that qualified are Oshogbo Babes from Osun State, Ekimogun Boys from Ondo State, and Atiba United from Oyo State.
Others are Anaocha United FC from Anambra State, Igbo Eze from Enugu State, Eze Kali Boys from Imo State and Agu Bolo Babes FC from Rivers State.
Young Elite FC from Bayelsa State.Warrior Boys FC from Kogi State, Ilorin United from Kwara State, Muhammed FC from Niger State. Bullet Boys FC from Taraba State, Brain Babes FC from Yobe State, Shagari Boys from Sokoto State and Kazaure United FC from Kano State.
The final closing ceremony has been fixed for Sunday, 21st of September 2025.
