Chairman of Angels Football Club of Lagos, Chekwube Uzoegbo marked the 20th anniversary of the club and the achievements since inception.
The anniversary ceremony, which held on Sunday in Lagos, saw the friends, well-wishers, relations and other football stakeholders came to rejoice with the club for the achievements and progress of the club in the last 20 years.
In his welcome address, Uzoegbo expressed gratitude to God for the success of the club in the last 20years and admitted that the club face a lot of challenges at the beginning before it stabilized.
“What can I say than to thank God for the existence of the club since inception.We encountered so many challenges but at times went on, we survived it.The club has won five trophies this outgoing year and I am happy about that.
“Presently some of our players are currently playing their professional football abroad and the club is waxing stronger every year.I think Angels FC deserved to be praised and commended,”he said.
The club chairman also appreciated the support of Hon Ndubuisi Uzoegbo, who was the Chairman of the occasion and bestowed him award of his services to humanity and promotion of youth and sports.
Uzoegbo went ahead to thank those who contributed to the club financially and morally.He also acknowledged the support of Badagry Divisional Football Association BDFA and other football stakeholders who have contributed one way or the other for the success of the club.
During the award presentation,Uzoegbo was honoured with three award for his excellent and exceptional leadership quality and his impact on youth.
One of the players of Angels FC, Ugochukwu Martins who spoke to our correspondent thanked the club owner for giving him the opportunity to showcase his talents in the club.
Martins who scored more than 20 goals since he joined the club six years ago described his teammates a committed and dedicated players boasted that Angels FC would do better in year 2025.
Meanwhile, some of the invited guests who attended the club anniversary donated cash, while some promised to reward the club for their achievements in the outgoing year.
Angels FC are currently training at St Jude’s Primary School, Mushin, Lagos.
