Leader of the Agege Football Coaches Council, Olumide Ajayi, has commended his colleagues after they defeated the Alimosho Football Coaches Council football team in the final of the football event at the recent AMIOA Day held in Bishop Aggay School, Mushin, Lagos
Five councils under Ikeja Divisional Football Coaches Council came together to hold Coaches Day tagged”AMIOA The councils are Agege, Mushin, Ikeja, Oshodi/Isolo &Ejigbo and Alimosho.
Agege Football Coaches Council’s football team, against all odds, defeated Alimosho Football Coaches Council’s football team 1-0 in the final to emerge as the winner of the football event.
Thanks to Omolaja Wasiu, who got the winning goal for Agege in the early second half of the pulsating encounter watched by the chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Olawale Liammed Gafar and other invited guests.
In a statement forwarded to our correspondent, Ajayi described the hard-fought victory well deserved and went ahead to congratulate his council for the job well done.
“Let me use this medium to congratulate the Agege Football Coaches Council football team for this historic victory. This is the inaugural edition of AMIOA Day, and my council emerged asthe champion in the football event.

“It tells you that the Agege Football Coaches Council has vibrant and energetic coaches who understand football very well and know how to practise it. This victory calls for celebration, and we will still hold our football team in a unique way soonest in our secretariat,” he said.
Leader of Alimosho Football Coaches Council, Samuel Uchenna Eke, also congratulated the winning team for their impressive performance saying that the essence of AMIOA Day is for the five councils under Ikeja Football Coaches Council to come together and celebrate affiliate coaches and bring them together in the name of friendship, unity and harmony.
“I congratulate the Agege Football Coaches Council for their victory, and I also commend my council for giving their best in the encounter. Unfortunately, we were unlucky against our neighbour, Agege Football Coaches Council.
“Like I said earlier, AMIOA Day is a day set aside for affiliate coaches under the five councils to celebrate ourselves and promote unity, friendship and love among ourselves,” he said.
In his own comment, the Leader of the Ikeja Football Coaches Council, Adeshina Oyebande, expressed delight with the performance of the Agege Football Coaches Council, saying that their efforts were rewarded when Omolaja scored the winning goal in the final to give them the well-deserved victory.
Speaking in the same vein, chairman organising committee, Musbau Oseni expressed gratitude to God for the success of AMIOA Day and congratulated the Agege Football Coaches Council for being a champion in the football event.
He, however, thanked all five council leaders and secretaries for their support to make AMIOA Day a successful event and urged the affiliate coaches to continue to uphold the ethic of the profession and show love to one another in their various councils.
Meanwhile, AMIOA Day featured a coaching seminar,a football event among the five councils and award recognition.
