The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) Rev. (Amb) Samuel Ikpea has called on all members of the Supporters club to rally round and make their presence massive ahead of the Super Falcons forthcoming international friendly matches.
The two-legged friendly games which will be played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne and Mobolaji Johnson Arena Stadium, Lagos on the 26th and 29th of October respectively, will see the Super Falcons of Nigeria face The Fennecs of Algeria in a two-legged friendly which serves as a build up to the Africa Women’s Cup of nations which comes up in July next year.
Ikpea, who understands that the North Africans have never had any clash with the Super Falcons both in a friendly and competitive event will be looking forward to give their best when both sides meet in Ikenne and Lagos and has directed that all members of the club to be physically present.
“We know it’s an international friendly and not a qualifier” Ikpea started. “But we need to come out and cheer the Super Falcons giving them all the necessary morale boost and support”
“We were in Uyo on two occasions in the last three months to support the Super Eagles, so I see no reason why we cannot come out en masse to support the Super Falcons at Ikenne and here in Lagos. Attendance is mandatory” Ikpea hammered.
Ikpea further reminded all that The Fennecs of Algeria who are ranked 84th in FIFA ranking will be looking forward to boost their ranking by securing points when they meet with the Super Falcons in the two-legged friendlies and this will make the games more demanding despite not being a qualifier.
‘It is an important match for Algeria and Nigeria, we are just coming from the Olympics where we did not win a single match and Algeria are seeking an opportunity to improve their FIFA ranking, so it is important” Ikpea concluded
The Fennecs of Algeria who have been involved in six friendly games since this year have won 4 of those friendly games, losing one and getting a draw with both games being against Tunisia in a two-legged friendly.
Since making their debut at the AWCON in 2004, Algeria have also played in the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions but have failed to qualify from the group stage of the continental tournament, they have also never qualified for the Women’s World Cup.
