Barely some hours to the official opening ceremony of the 13th Africa Games in Ghana, our correspondent observed that there are less public awareness about the game.
Our correspondent who visited some places like Maukuna market, Osu Regal Estate, Ako-Ajei Park and Labadi among others in Accra observed that the organisers have not done enough publicity to sensitise the people about the game.
As at early this morning people were going to their normal businesses. The Ghana government has not declared public holiday to allow the people to come to the stadium in large numbers for today’s official opening ceremony.
Speaking with some Ghanians in Accra, said they were not aware of the game, while others said there are no public awareness and noise about the event.
David Kuffor who base in Accra expressed disappointment with the poor publicity of the game saying that the organising committee that handle media and publicity have failed in their responsibilities.
“I don’t know that Ghana is hosting Africa Games because i have not heard it on radio recently.I expect the organisers to erect a big billboard in various places in Accra and other cities in Ghana for people to see unfortunately nothing such has happened,”he said.
In his own comment, Daniel admitted that all is not well in Ghana and noted that such event has suffered serious public awareness.
“I expect the government to declare public holiday today for today’s opening ceremony unfortunately nothing such has happened. If you ask many market women or men even the students, many of them are not aware that Ghana is hosting Africa Games,”he said.
