It was a day of honour and celebration for some members of the Alimosho Football Coaches Council who were given an award of excellence following their impressive records achieved in the year 2024.
Alimosho Football Coaches Day was put together by Alimosho Football Coaches Council under the leadership of Samuel Uchenna Eke as part of the council programme to herald the commencement of events of 2025.
The much-anticipated council day was held over the weekend at DG Dynamic Hotel, Abaranje Road, Alimosho, Lagos.
Among the coaches who received an award are Isaac Jegede. He won a gold medal for the Lagos State University LASU female football team at the last All-African University Games held in Lagos.
Coach Badiru Azeez is another awardee. Badru was honoured with an award after he won the Seamoriow U-15 Championship last year.
Another awardee, Coach Oku Edem Oku received an award for his dedicated service during the Alimosho Football Coaches Council Championship.
Coach Taiwo Adejuyigbe was also honoured for his support to the council in the last few years.
Speaking with our correspondent, Eke said the award of excellence to some members of the council was approved by the Alimosho Football Coaches Council as a way of encouraging and appreciating some coaches who had brought honours to the council in the year 2024.

“We are here to honour and appreciate some of our coaches who brought honours to this council in the year 2024. We gave them this award to encourage our members to work the extra mile and bring honours to the council.
“Some of the awardees are young coaches and we are celebrating their achievements as part of council support like I said we did this to encourage our members and tell them that they are not alone in their coaching career, the entire council is also behind them,” he said.
In his own comment, the leader of the Ikeja Football Coaches Council, Tunde Adeshina who was among the invited guests applauded the Alimosho Football Coaches Council for honouring its coaches and admonished other councils in the state to follow suit.
“It was a day of honour for coaches who really brought honours to the council in the year 2024. I think it is a good initiative and it is high time to celebrate our coaches especially those who have done well in their careers. Once again, I congratulate all the awardees for the job well done and wish them the best of luck in their coaching careers,” he said.
The leader of the Agege Football Coaches Council, Olumide Ajayi described Alimosho Football Coaches Day as a huge success and congratulated the awardees for their impressive performances in the year 2024.
Some of the awardees who spoke to our correspondent expressed delight with the award bestowed on them saying that the award would spur them to do more in year 2025.
Before the award ceremony, a lecture was given by Coach Ademuyiwa Atobatele who titled his lecture on ‘moments of the game’
He highlighted the importance of the relationship between a coach and players during the match situation and encouraged his colleagues to have a cordial relationship with their players both on and off the pitch.
Among other invited guests honoured at the event are the Chairman Ikeja Divisional Football Association, Taiwo Alagbe, Sec Ikeja DFA, Alaba Olaniyi, Coach Muhammed Gafari, former Coach of Otassolo FC, Seyi Abidemi, club owners and host of others.
