As the Rising Stars Football League has reached the round of 12, the chairman of Chekas United Football Club, Chekwube Uzoegbo expressed confidence that his team are a title contender.
Uzoegbo said this after his team defeated Angels FC 2-1 in the round of 24 played recently at the Nathaniel Idowu Sports Center, Ajegunle, Lagos.
Although the two teams were owned by Uzoegbo who was not disappointed that one of his teams could not make it to the round of 12.
Speaking with journalists, the football administrator said all the teams that qualified for the round of 12 are title contenders but noted that his boys can win the title if they remain focused and determined.
“I am happy that one of my teams reached the round of 12. Our target is to reach Super Four and aim for the trophy.
“I have the boys who can do the job and I have a backroom staff that are working round the clock to ensure that we win the title,” he said.
Chekas United would play some friendly matches to keep the players fit ahead of round of 12.
