
With the successful outing of Team Lagos at the recently held Southwest Zonal Elimination Championship, the Lagos State Sports Commission has been advised to camp the National Sports Festival-bound athletes early camping ahead of the tournament.
This was the advice of the Head Coach of the Lagos Basketball Association, Olayinka Oyewunmi, who called for early camping for Lagos athletes ahead of the 21st National Sports Festival in November.
Oyewunmi believes that the state athletes must have at least four weeks of intensive camping to ensure they are well-prepared to make an impact at the Asaba 2022′ NSF.
Captain of the basketball male team, David Edward ascribed the team’s success at the Zonal Elimination to the hard work and commitment of the players, while thanking the Lagos State Sports Commission for motivating the athletes and officials to achieve the set target.
The Southwest Ball Games Elimination organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development was held in Iwo, Osun State.
Team Lagos were outstanding in the competition winning 13 of the available 14 slots in the competition that saw all the six states of the southwest region of Nigeria competing.
The qualifications were secured in Football, Basketball, Hockey, Handball, Beach volleyball and Softball/Baseball teams.
Football (male and female), Basketball (male and female), Hockey (male and female), Softball and Baseball (male and female), Beach volleyball (female) and Handball (Male) have all booked their places after finishing tops at the Southwest Zonal Eliminations.
