One of the leaders in All Progressives Party APC in Mainland, Lagos State, Dr Tokunbo Oluwole has revealed how her ruling party can clinch next local government council elections in Lagos State.
Oluwole while addressing the journalists in Lagos emphasised the need for the party members to be united and work for the interest of the party.
She explained furthered that APC has been ruling Lagos for many years saying that no political party has what it takes to defeat them in the forthcoming LG poll but cautioned her party members not to be complacent before and during the elections.
“As regards to the forthcoming local government council elections,I can say APC stands the better chance to win in Mainland LG and Yaba LCDA and other councils in the state.If we want to win, we need to come together as members and work for the progress and interest of our great party.We saw what happened in the last presidential and national Assembly elections in Lagos,we don’t want such things to repeat itself again.
“Presently all the members need to be united and begin to work for the progress of the party.We need to do house to house door campaign and talk to the residents or electorates the need to vote for APC in the forthcoming LG elections.
“Our discussion with the electorates would give us an insight what to do and we can intensify our efforts in our electioneering campaign.We need feedback from them so that we would know the next action we would take before the election day,”she said.
The former commissioner in the Lagos State Health Service Commission said the only way her party can lose forthcoming LG elections except if there is disunity among the party members,internal crisis among the leaders, indiscipline among the members, lack of focus and fail to work in line with party guidelines.
Oluwole remains optimistic that APC would not only win Mainland LG and Yaba LCDA,the party would sweep all other councils in the state despite the numbers of opposition parties that would contest against ruling party in the state.
“Like I said, we are not going to lose any council for opposition parties.We party members from the state down to the wards would work seriously so that we can achieve common goal at the end of the day.The Lagos LG elections would not be a walkover for us so there is need for everybody who belongs to this party to work hard to achieve our set objectives,”she said
Asked if she is in support of any aspirant in Mainland, Oluwole said she supported all the APC aspirants in Mainland and Yaba who aspire to contest for the party primary elections but urged others to back any aspirant that win APC ticket ahead general local government council poll.
“As a well known leader in Mainland,I support all the aspirants but whosoever emerges as winner, I expect other aspirants to support such person because at that moment he or she has become our party candidate and such candidate needs our total support ahead of council elections.I wish all the aspirants all the best as they are preparing for their primary elections soon,”she said.
Oluwole however thanked the current Mainland council boss for her commitment to the infrastructural development in different part of Mainland.
She confessed that the council boss has met the expectations of Mainland residents saying that her job well done would be an added advantage for the party to win council elections in Mainland.
