In keeping with his commitment to responsive leadership and purposeful administration, the Acting Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, undertook a comprehensive familiarization tour of all offices and departments within the Council Secretariat.
The exercise was a direct fulfillment of the pledge he made during his maiden strategic meeting with the management staff on Wednesday, where he assured that his leadership would not operate from a distance but would remain connected to both the workforce and the operational realities of the Council.
His decision to tour the entire Secretariat underscores a leadership style that is hands-on, inclusive, and driven by accountability.
The Acting Chairman’s visit was not merely ceremonial; it was designed to establish face-to-face interaction with the Council workforce, to foster open lines of communication, and to gain first-hand insight into the prevailing conditions of the various offices and facilities.
It also served as a platform to appraise the general work environment, evaluate infrastructural gaps, and initiate discussions on areas in need of improvement.
Moving from one office to another, Mr. Obasa engaged staff members warmly, demonstrating his belief that every employee is an integral part of the local government system.
He encouraged officers to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and renewed commitment, assuring them that his administration would prioritize their welfare and working conditions as vital components of effective service delivery.
The tour further extended to specialized units under the Education Department, particularly the Skill Acquisition Centres, which currently provide training in Fashion Designing, Catering, Hairdressing and Make-up, as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
While interacting directly with the trainees at these centres, Mr. Obasa emphasized the indispensable role of vocational education in combating unemployment and promoting youth empowerment.
He passionately noted that technical and entrepreneurial skills are the building blocks of self-reliance and community development in today’s economy.
In a gesture that inspired confidence among both staff and students, the Acting Chairman assured them of his administration’s determination to upgrade the facilities, improve available equipment, and enhance the learning environment. He pledged that the centres would receive a facelift to align with modern standards, thereby creating an enabling atmosphere for productivity and quality skill development.
Speaking further, Mr. Obasa stressed that his stewardship would be characterized by inclusivity, welfare-consciousness, and infrastructure renewal. He reiterated that this familiarization exercise was not intended to be a one-off engagement, but the beginning of an ongoing tradition of leadership visibility, staff interaction, and direct community involvement.
According to him, effective governance is built on mutual trust between leadership and the workforce, and such trust can only be nurtured through constant engagement and transparency.

Observers and members of staff present during the tour have described Mr. Obasa’s action as a refreshing departure from distant administration. They commended his humility, accessibility, and readiness to listen, noting that such qualities are the hallmarks of a people-oriented leader.
By this gesture, the Acting Executive Chairman has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Agege Local Government, not only through infrastructural projects but also through human capital development, staff welfare, and the creation of enabling environments for sustainable service delivery.
The Public Affairs Office of Agege Local Government reaffirms that under his watch, the Secretariat will witness renewed vigor, enhanced efficiency, and greater synergy between leadership and staff, with the ultimate goal of delivering dividends of good governance to the people of Agege.
