Chairman of the Larry Football Club of Agege, Ebenezer Sanyaolu, has expressed his team’s readiness to feature in high-profile football tournaments and to participate in scouting programmes in Lagos and beyond the state.
Sanyaolu disclosed this at the official relaunch of Larry FC where the former players of the club and newly recruited players played a novelty match, which ended 2-1 in favour of the current players of Larry FC.
Sanyaolu, while speaking with journalists, said the relaunch of the club showed that the club is fully ready to involve in high profile football tournaments and other scouting football tournaments soonest and urged the players to remain focused and steadfast.
He explained that the club has recruited young players recently who are hungry for success but noted that there is room for young players who are looking for a club where they can start their footballing career.
“Our relaunching of the club today (Saturday) showed that we are ready for future challenges.Recently we just finished our recruitment process so time has come to start playing tournaments and scouting football programmes in Lagos and other part of the country,”he said.
Asked if the club has sponsor, Sanyaolu highlighted the challenges facing the club and commended the former players of the club for their financial assistance since the club has revived late last year after 15 years of inactive.
Meanwhile, football stakeholders in Orile Agege have welcomed the return of Larry Football Club as many of them said the revival of the community-based club is expected to bring pride, boosting grassroots football development and foster engagement amongst residents and football enthusiasts.
The match between former and current players of the team decided at the football field of the NYSC Camp along Iyana Ipaja Road, Orile Agege was witnessed by Community leaders including His Royal Majesty,Oba Akeem Ambaliu Agbedeyi, the Alaige of Orile Agege Kingdom.
While congratulating the club on the relaunch, Chairman, Orile-Agege LCDA Sports Committee, Dipo Liadi described it as welcome development for sports, especially football in the Local Council Development Area.
Liadi assured that the Orile-Agege Council boss, Honourable Akinola Idowu is commited to create the enabling environment for the club to thrive by providing necessary support and facilities across the LCDA.
The football community in Orile Agege hopes that the football revival will be swiftly followed by instant success on and off the pitch, achieving glory in various competitions and produce players that will play for professional at the highest level.
